DESCRIPTION
The intersex flag is distinguished by a purple circle within a yellow triangle, located on the left side of a progressive pride flag. This combination seeks to raise awareness and inclusion of intersex people within the LGBTQIA+ community. The original LGBTQIA+ Pride flag, also known as the rainbow flag, represents the community at large, while the addition of the yellow and purple circle within the flag represents intersex people, along with trans and non-binary people.
The intersex flag itself, created by Morgan Carpenter, consists of a purple circle on a yellow background. The circle represents wholeness and completeness, as well as the right to bodily autonomy and genital integrity, according to Intersex Human Rights Australia (formerly OII Australia). The intersex flag is used at events like Pride and is a symbol of the fight for intersex rights.
In short, the intersex flag is incorporated into a broader pride flag to represent the inclusion of intersex people within the LGBTQIA+ community.
